Amazon.com Product Description Equipped with a smooth-riding front-suspension fork, the Mongoose Montana women's mountain bike is a great choice for both trail and street riding. The bike features a handcrafted, high-tensile-strength aluminum frame that holds up durably to rough handling. The index 21-speed SRAM MRX shifters, meanwhile, provide plenty of control whether you're on flat or hilly terrain. Finally, the bike's extra-wide 1.95-inch tires roll smoothly over pavement, grass, or dirt. Other features include front and rear linear pull brakes, an adjustable quick-release seat, a three-piece ATB crank, 26-inch wheels with alloy frames, and a rust-resistant powder coating. The Montana carries a one-year warranty.

Like It!! July 12, 2009 Roxanne Smith 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is an awesome bike! I got it somewhere else that somewhat pre-assembled it. I brought it home to my husband (who owns a Canondale and knows all about bikes) and he made some well needed tweaks here and there. I've rode twice (6 miles total) and didn't have any problems with sharp turns that others have written about. I think it's a keeper if assembled right and if you trade the seat with gel seat.
WASTE OF MONEY May 10, 2009 D. Hertz (San Diego) Bought this bike for my wife.. You get what you pay for I guess, because this thing is junk. Every pre-assembled piece had to be taken apart and re-installed correctly. The rear derailleur was installed wrong and the bolt holding it on was cross-threaded making it a pain to place on the bike correctly. After killing a couple hours getting the rear derailleur fixed I moved on to adjusting the front derailleur.. The front derailleur had alot of play in it and when I tried to adjust the screws I realized that the excess play was allowing the screws to slip behind the adjustment bracket making adjustment impossible. Rather than return the bike I am going to purchase a new front derailleur and hopefully get this bike on the road, I refuse to let this piece of junk beat me... don't waste your money on purchasing unless you plan to spend more money making it work correctly.
Uncomfortable April 18, 2009 mark. Rep (Colorado) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The bike comes with the hardest seat I have ever sat on! Also, the way the seat is so far above the handle bars, or it seems that way, makes my wrists hurt.
Issues with nicks, decals & rust December 25, 2008 kwebiz (Marietta, GA USA) 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
We have not had a chance to ride this bike, yet, but I was very aggravated when taking it out of the box for final assembly. I ordered & received 3 Mongoose bikes at the same time - this one & 2 Men's Mongoose Maneuver Dual-Suspension Mountain Bikes. They stayed in their boxes until Christmas Eve, when I assembled them around 2am.
This bike has several nicks in the paint, some down to bare metal. And, the bottom metal part of the handlebars that goes into the frame & expands to hold the handlebars in place is rusty & nicked up badly, looking used. Also, the decals on each bike were put on sloppily, each with many bubbles including some 1 to 2 inches long, making it impossible to simply press the bubbles out.
The 2 men's bikes have numerous scratches, deep nicks & 1 spot of extreme & deep scrapes (2 inches by 1 inch, & at the exact same spot on each bike). Many of these are down to bare metal. It appears that the factory assembly & packaging process does not handle the bikes delicately. They will have to supply me with 2 types of paint for me to keep these bikes - 1 for the 1st coat of glossy paint, 1 for the matte finish on top of the glossy coat.
The bikes feel & look solid. We will be testing them over the next week. However, I expect the manufacturer to make good on supplies needed to repair all of the nicks & scrapes, for appearance & to prevent immediate rusting.
3 Mongoose bikes ordered at the same time, all 3 with substantial enough cosmetic damages to want to return all 3 if the manufacturer does not step up to make things right. I have 10, 12 & 17 year old children who are excited & disappointed at the same time

Service at Amazon was excellent! Many of the problems that were described in previous posts made sense to me becasue I had the same issue. However, it was not until I read the instruction manual and realized that I improperly assembled the fork( shock) backwards on the bike which led to poor braking and the wheel ultra close to my legs. Since the adjustment no problems. Shifts great, brakes well. Brought it into a shop for final once over. May help for others.
Cheers
